This recipe produces a decadent two layer brownie – soft and gooey on the bottom, and crunchy on top. An absolute treat on special occasions. Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Grease 13x9 inch baking pan.
  3. Melt chocolate and butter in a double boiler (or the microwave), remove from heat.
  4. Stir in sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  5. Temper and add eggs and then mix well.
  6. Add in the flour and beat until smooth.
  7. Pour into prepared pan and set aside.
  8. In a small bowl, combine the flour and baking soda.
  9. In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and salt.
  10. Add in the egg yolks and vanilla.
  11. Now, add the flour mixture and pecans. Stir well. The mixture will be thick.
  12. Drop mixture by spoonfulls on top of the brownie layer. Don’t worry about spreading it out, this will happen magically during baking.
  13. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is browned and begins to crack.
  14. Allow to cool completely before serving.
